Usually the life of a punch is approximately 200.000 strokes. To reach this lifetime, it is required to have a rigid tool guiding, correct tool lubrication, a sharp tool and a correct sizing of the punch and die. Only regrinding of the punch and die can ensure the sharpness of the tools.

The most common reason for operation stoppages on punch presses is tooling problems (e.g. wrong clearances or dull tools). In our experience customers do not always spend a lot of money for tools when investing in a punching machine, and especially not for the grinding of these tools.
